Poetry of the 18th Meridian

We want to make the 18th meridian a new attraction in our region. Krzywogoniec intersects the 18th meridian of east longitude, specifically 18°02’13.2″E, and connects the village with cities such as Bydgoszcz, Stockholm, and Cape Town. By symbolically marking the 18th meridian, we want to create connections between people living on or near the 18th meridian. There are several cities on the map of Poland that take particular care to mark the meridians that run through them and promote them as unique attractions. Bydgoszcz, with its meridian 18° E, deserves particular attention. A group of enthusiasts dedicated to marking the “Bydgoszcz Meridian” has been promoting this for almost 20 years.

The unveiling of the Poetry of the 18th Meridian monument will take place as part of the “Forest Bee Poetry Festival with St. John’s Poetry.”

About the artist

Gracjan Kaja Gracjan Kaja was born in Bydgoszcz in 1980, where he graduated from the 6th Secondary School. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Therapy at the Medical School Complex in Bydgoszcz. In 2008, he graduated from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, with a diploma from Sławoj Ostrowski’s studio. He is a traveler. He primarily practices sculpture and drawing, and is also involved in mural painting and computer graphics, as well as photography, primarily reportage, from his travels in Latin America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Venezuela). He has exhibited sculpture, drawing, and photography. He is the creator of, among other works, the sculpture by K. I. Gałczyński at the museum in Pranie and the reliquary of Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko in Bydgoszcz.
