In August 2024, the foundation’s resident will be Natalia Belczenko, winner of the 1st Edition of the Literary Residency Competition of the czA(T) Krzywogoniec Foundation and the Cekcyn Commune. During her two-week stay, Belczenko works on translating Krystyna Dąbrowska’s poems from the book “Miasto z indu” and writing poems about the Cekcyn commune.
Natalia Belchenko (1973) – Ukrainian poet and translator. She lived in Kiev, temporarily in Krakow. Graduate of the Faculty of Philology of the Kyiv National University. Author of nine books of poetry. Her poetry has been translated into German, French, English, Bulgarian, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Lithuanian, Latvian, and Hebrew. Poetry publications – in magazines of the following countries: Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, America, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Latvia.
Belczenko received the Hubert Burda Award (Germany, 2000), an award in the Competition for the best translations of Wisława Szymborska’s poetry into Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian (3rd place, Ukrainian, Poland, 2015) and an award from the Foundation. Łesi and Petro Kovalych (USA, 2019).
Natalia Belczenko was a scholarship holder of the “Gaude Polonia” program of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Poland (Warsaw, 2017). She participated in the International Translation Seminars “TRANSLATORS WITHOUT BORDERS” (Wojnowice, 1917, 1918, 1919, 2021), International Writers and Translators House (Wentspils, Latvia, 2016, 2018, 2021). She is a member of the Ukrainian PEN Club.
She took part in festivals: 8th World Poetry Day (Warsaw, 2008), 4th International Bruno Schulz Festival (Drohobycz, 2010, 2020), 4th International Literary Festival “Czas Poetów” (Lublin, 2014), International Literary Festival “Prima Vista” ( Tartu, 2016), 42nd International Poetry November (Poznań, 2019, 2021).
